Okayama Happy Outlet Store

In preparation for some unprecedented changes to KAPITAL’s presence in Okayama and Kojima, there are some big changes going on with the Okayama store and its schedule. As KAPITAL seeks to open new up new doors and expand further and further, we have decided to converge our Okayama store into a special Weekend Only Outlet Store, presenting all of our seasonal items with special prices to our beloved customers. Hours and hours of preparation have been spent to shift the Okayama store into its new style, but all preparations have come to an end for this very first weekend!!!

1st Annual – KAPITAL Union Special Masters of Hemming

In March 2013, KAPITAL held the first ever (to be annual) UNION SPECIAL Masters of Hemming contest.
Eight fierce competitors, representatives from various KAPITAL stores, gathered at KAPITAL home grounds in Kojima to compete for the coveted first ever Grand Prize and Title.

They practiced and honed their skills and then took the spotlight one at a time in front of KAPITAL’s master class professionals, seasoned veterans of the first ever KAPITAL Factory, and, the President himself – TH, who stands second to none when it comes to precision, speed, and aesthetic beauty in his hems.

Behind the Scenes – a KAPITAL Catalog

The three catalog releases each year for KAPITAL are pivotal points in the year and the release is looked forward to by not only our loyal customers, but the entire KAPITAL team as well. There are many that give an arm and a leg to be able to witness the catalog shoots. Not only is each shoot located at a carefully selected location by our super combi duo – Kiro and Eric, but the team of assistances, designer’s, stylists, models, and support staff, are all hand selected from various places around the world.

Other than the generous off shots posted by Eric himself on his private blog, there are basically zero sources of information pertaining to the behind scenes of the KAPITAL catalog shoot… until now. With the timing of the release of the most recent catalog – Diamonds in the Rough, KAPITAL worked alongside Free and Easy to release a twelve page spread in the May issue giving insight, depth, and quality information behind what goes into a KAPITAL shoot. In addition, KAPITAL’s beloved new Century Denim is featured in time with our Spring LEGS store Hanami event (taking place today, March 30th).

2013 Summer

Eventful Week and Wonderful Weekend

This past week has been quite an exciting one within the KAPITAL circle and the weekend is also looking to bring many fun treats as well!

Over a three day span this week, KAPITAL held its latest Exhibition for the A/W 13 season! Although we cannot show you everything at this point, and it pains me to not be able to share the entire experience with you, please take this small preview and look forward to the Fall to come!!

In addition, tomorrow brings the release of the latest KAPITAL CATALOG!! These beautiful Lookbooks capture all that is KAPITAL and will be a pleasant addition to your coffee table and or book shelf.

Lastly, as the Cherry Blossoms are still in full bloom, KAPITAL too will be holding a small “Hanami” party at our KAPITAL Craftsman Store (LEGS in Ebisu). Drinks, Denim, Century Denim, and Kakishibu!!!

White Day

The Japanese version of Valentine’s Day and the respective White Day that follows baffles some foreigners. In Japan, on Valentine’s Day, women give chocolate to men. This is seen as a chance to tell that special someone that you have had feelings for them, and you let them know by giving some “maji-choco” or “serious chocolate”, chocolate that conveys your true feelings. For all of the other male friends or male co-workers, “giri choco” or “obligation chocolate” is given. Department stores are swarmed with girls and women scouring for just the right assortment of chocolate and various boutiques and stalls promoting their special “Valentine’s Day” chocolate packages.

Because Valentine’s Day is for the girl to give chocolate to the guy… the boys must have a day to return the gesture, and that is where White Day comes in. Exactly one month after V Day, on March 14th, the guys give back to the girls. Generally, a guy is supposed to give back double in value what he received one month prior. Of course, not only chocolate, but other sweet little gifts are more than ok, if not expected.

It is quite a fun variation to the western Valentine’s Day culture and searing and splurging for just the right gift can be quite fun. Which is why we too at KAPITAL want to help all you fellows choose something special for your lady!
