Starting early last month, you can view the project “CLOTH WORKS”
by Photographer Nishimura Masahiro,
a collection of photographs showcasing every craftsman in the KAPITAL family,
shot and taken in Okayama JAPAN.
You may also have already realized that, out of the many photographs,
one picture in particular stand outs: a large RING.
This KAPITAL Craftsman Appreciation Ring.
This ring is given to craftsmen in KAPITAL who have dedicated 5 years of hard work to the company and perfection of their craft.
In actuality, a Silver Ring is given as a 5 year appreciation award,
a Silver and Gold ring is given for 10 years,
and Platinum Ring is awarded to those serving 20 years in the KAPITAL family!!!
This project, “CLOTH WORKS” will continue on to bring the KAPITAL craftsmen out into the spotlight, complete with their indigo dyed hands.
You may also see several beautiful KAPITAL Craftsman Appreciation Rings as well!

Hello, N.Y. Here we are.
こんにちは。
２週間前、新作のセンチュリーデニムを世界へ広めるため、N.Yを訪れました。
N.YにあるShowroom BATTERYさんにご協力頂き、センチュリーデニムを中心としたKapital Kountry 2013 S/S の展示会を行いました。
海外でのセンチュリーデニムの反応はどうだろうか、、、
と思っていましたが、反応は良好、手応えありです。
センチュリーデニムの元々のコンセプトを、海外のバイヤーさんや記者の方々、一人一人
にface to faceでお話をしていく事で、物作りの心を伝える事ができました。特にN.Yに集まる世界各国のバイヤーさん達は、間違いなく世界規模で物事を考えてる。いまの世界の流れ、経済状況、、、そこから生まれてくる流行。そして何より新しいものに対しての評価。それを感じました。そんな世界の人々を驚かせる事が僕達の仕事です。今回、センチュリーデニムに対しての評価はとても良く、新しいものに対しての反応がありました。いままで見た事のないデニム。通常なら、デニムは色が落ちていく事で風合いを感じるが、センチュリーデニムは色落ちのみならず、IDG刺し子の糸の移染を楽しんでいける。という新しい概念。理念がしっかりとしている新しいもの、ことに対しては、世界からの賞賛を受ける事ができます。今回のN.Y Showroomは現段階では成功と言えるでしょう。
N.Y showroomでは、N.YのBrooklynにshopがあるHickoree’s (www.hickorees.com)のEmil(エミール)と対談。
KAPITAL Kountryのdesignについて、Japanese boro, sashikoについて、、、そして、センチュリーデニムについて。
ちなみに、仕事終わりにEmilのお店に行きました。
うちのブランドも含め、日本のブランドが充実していましたし、流石の目利きである彼が選ぶ服や小物、、、
N.YはFashionやエンターテイメント、、、すべてにおいてtopレベルの場所。
そこでしのぎを削るほどのお店。
N.Yでいま熱いshopの一つがHickoree’sです。
その中でも、特に可愛いと思ったのは、Hickoree’s originalで作っているFabricを使って作られたstole。
何が良いかって、fabricの香りがそのままに残っていて、そのFabricがどこで作られたか、どのような背景で、どんな人が作っているのかを彷彿させるほど香る、、、
香りに注目しているかはどうか分からないが、ぼくはそう感じた。
これは香りによってこのFabricが作られた背景を纏えるから魅了的なんだ、、、と

ちなみに、Hickoree’sの入っているビルの１階にあるBarのBrooklyn beerがおススメです。
また、まだ内緒ですが、N.Yの老舗デパートが今回のshowroomに来てくれました。
そこにKapital Kountryが置かれるとなると、、、
2013 S/S からKAPITAL Kountryがいよいよ世界へ羽ばたいていきますね～。期待大です。
日曜日は仕事はお休みを頂き、プライベートタイム
この日は、兼ねてから行こうと思っていたBrooklyn Flea (Flea Market) in Williamsburgへ行きました。
N.Yのflea market、日本で言うところの骨董市。
物との出会い、人との出会いは運命ですよね。それをいつも感じさせてくれるのがFlea Marketだとおもいます。
Flea Marketは次世代につないでいきたいものを見つける最高の場所。
今回の出会いもかなり良かった。
何を買い付けたかはまだ秘密、、、もしかしたら、8月Kountryで店頭に並ぶかも、、、笑
その後、Union squareへ
知り合いのAsakaさんに教えてもらった古着屋さん、Stock Vintageを目指して。
ここのセレクションはなかなか良かった。
real vintageの水玉OPや子供用の可愛い赤のスカート(刺繍入り)…etc
を買い付けたりしました。
この辺のエリアは歩けば、なかなか良いものが見つかりますよ。
家具から、可愛いレアなボタン、Vintage Fabricまで、、、

For KAPITAL staff, everything starts with and depends on the collection Exhibition! Also held three times a year, the exhibition attracts buyers from not only the sixty domestic retailers, but also the buyers from the fifteen KAPITAL stores and international retailers! You may or may not have already noticed, but each of the fifteen KAPITAL stores offer different items from the next (with some overlap of course) and each store’s selection is carefully decided to cater to the needs of the local area fan base and or store theme!
KAPITALスタッフにとって、全てのコレクションは展示会からスタートします。年に3回行われるこの展示会は、60社を数える国内の小売業者に加え、国内15店舗のKAPITALストアや海外の小売業者で賑わいます。（お気づきの方もいらっしゃるかもしれませんが、15店舗のKAPITALストアは、一つ一つが異なるアイテムを扱っており、それは各地のお客様のニーズや各ストアのテーマに応じて厳選されているのです。）
Usually held over a three of four day span, the exhibition opens its doors to the various fashion connoisseurs and orders are placed for the upcoming season. It is officially the first chance to get your eyes on the upcoming KAPITAL line, and it is a very hush-hush and private ordeal. However!! There have been some very exciting recent changes with our latest exhibition.
通常3日～4日間開催されるこの展示会には、様々なファッション業界関係者が訪れ、次なるシーズンに向けて多くのオーダーが行われます。この展示会は、新しいKAPITALのラインに触れることができる、正に最初の機会なのです。そして何と！最新の展示会で、大きな変化がありました。
The exhibitions for our prior seasons have all been held at various locations throughout Japan, but as you may have seen on our KAPITAL.jp topics page, with the opening of our very own Blue Hands Showroom (previously the Blue Hands store), all of the KAPITAL exhibitions will now be held locally in Kojima, where it all began!

About the Brand:
Unforeseen Circumstances is designed and produced in Brooklyn, New York. The collections are heavily influenced by art, dance, literature and interior design. The pieces have a one-of-a-kind look, with a vintage feel and an unusual color palette. It is for dancers to wear on their day off or simply for a woman to lounge in while she reads, and is always a unique surprise for those unforeseen circumstances.

Unforseen Circumstancesのコレクションのデザインのインスパレーションはアート、ダンス、文学、インテリアデザインから来ました！すべてのアイテムはそれぞれのユニークなルーク（一品ものみたいなデザイン）とヴィンテージフィールがあって、見ようなと特別色使いで作られています。休みの日を過ごしているダンサー（Dancer)でも、ラウンジのソーファーでゆっくりしている女性のために、いつか来るUnforseen CircumstancesにPerfect Surpriseの下着になります！

この日、子どもたちの食と安全をテーマにした音楽と学びのイベント「ティダノワ
祭」が沖縄県名護市内で
アーティストUAさんの呼びかけのもと開催されました。
ダッフル店では当日、店内にてイベントの映像と音をライブで配信し、
東日本大震災から1年が経過した今、本当の意味での復興とは何なのか…？を、より
多くの人達で学ぶ一日となりました。

Blue Hands SHOWROOM
本日、KAPITAL BLUE HANDS show roomの新しいスタートに、ランチレセプションを行いました。
あいにくの曇り空でしたが、天候も祝福してくれたようでレセプション中は（ギリギリ！？）
雨も我慢してくれたようです。
これからのBLUE HANDSは、完全アポイント制にはなりますが、各種協力会社様や、お店運営者の方であれば
いつでもご覧頂けますので、まずはKAPITAL営業部までご連絡ください。
KAPITAL is proud to announce that we have opened our very own private KAPITAL Showroom – Blue Hands SHOWROOM. Once our beloved Blue Hands store, this magnificent traditional home with original tatami matting, has been transformed into a wonderful KAPITAL experience. Now the home of our seasonal exhibitions, this Showroom is opened year round for scheduled guests. It represents all that is KAPITAL and I highly recommend taking your own small KAPITAL pilgrimage down to the KOJIMA area of Okayama to visit this wonderful small space!
